It comes from GK Chesterton, someone I honestly need to learn more about and it was read on the Writer's Almanac radio programme on the event of what would have been his 138th birthday. The quote is this:
"The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected."
One admits that change is necessary and is not afraid to try, one is afraid of losing what they have. That, to me, is "Why Progressive."
